Hello Jeffrey Lynn Media family,
Over the weekend, I was able to capture a full circle moment by photographing my favorite two Grooms, Chris and Terell for #ATaleofTwoKings.
It’s actually quite an amazing story. I had unknowingly been friends with Terell on Facebook for some time and I saw that he had gotten engaged to the love of his life (Chris) over the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday. At the time, I was stuck in a creative rut and I was looking for ways to have my photography company reach new levels and appeal to a wider audience of different ethnicities, religious backgrounds and genders.
I remember anxiously reaching out to Terell in a personal message on Facebook and inquired if he and his partner would be interested in a FREE engagement shoot. At this time, I had never photographed an LGBT couple and I had shot about 4 weddings before. I was worried that my work was not good enough and that I did not have enough experience. To my surprise, they both immediately said YES to the shoot.
Shortly after, we arranged the engagement shoot and they SLAYED it. I remember showing them the first shot out of my camera and I watched their eyes glisten romantically and saw the smiles crack across their faces.
Little did they know, that day, they reaffirmed my gift. Near the end of the shoot, they immediately told me that they wanted me to be the official photographer for their wedding in late Summer 2019. The photos from that shoot took off and have been featured across countless blogs and social media pages all over including @BlackGayWeddings, @nativesonnow and many more.
Fast forward to this past weekend on September 14, 2019 when I photographed #ATaleofTwoKings. The wedding was amazing. Every detail was in place. The grooms were donned in the finest and their rings sparkled extra bright that day. Terell’s red bottomed Louboutin’s glistened down the aisle as he marched to meet his life partner before the wedding officiant. The vows had everyone in attendance sweating from their eyes. The 4-tier cake was adorned in gold baroque styled icing. I couldn’t help but smile to myself as I was so grateful that this couple allowed me to join in on their journey to matrimony. It was truly a ceremony to remember, especially as the couple was introduced for the first time as husbands and waltzed in to Beyonce and Jay-Z’s #Mood4Eva and shared their first dance to Kelly Price’s rendition of “Through the Wire” by Chaka Khan.
